The group offers quick-turn-around, cost-effective solutions to a variety of research and technical problems in diverse applications areas including homeland security, microelectronics, process monitoring technologies, environment, cultural heritage and steel products and processes.

EKSPLA is a Lithuanian SME established in 1992. The company, with 135 employees (15 PhD) and an annual turnover of 8.5 M€ (2006), is a supplier of photonic solutions and develops and manufactures lasers, laser systems, optics and components for R&D and industrial applications.

AVANTES is a leading SME in the field of low cost spectroscopy and fibre optic applications. They offer miniature spectrometer systems for on-line measurements and analysis. They usually consist of a light source, fibre optic cables & probes and a spectrometer for light analysis.

The group from the Technical University of Clausthal (TUC) involved in this project belongs to the Laser Application Center (LAC), which is an interdisciplinary university institution with the ambition to merge the expertise in the fields of materials science & applied photonics at the TUC.  

The proposed research will be carried out at the Division of Environmental and Process Analytics at the Institute of Chemical Technologies and Analytics (Vienna University of Technology -TUWIEN-) with support and supervision of Prof. Bernhard Lendl (Laboratory of Chemical Analysis and Vibrational Spectroscopy).
